The Computational Approach to Black Hole Dynamics

Abstract:

Black holes in binary systems are one of the primary sources of gravitational waves that are expected will detected by interferometers such as LIGO and LISA. The numerical modeling of this source is crucial for these observational efforts. I will review the current status of numerical simulations of interacting black holes and the challenges ahead for a complete solution to the two body problem in General Relativity.
