Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss the problem of interpolating continuous real valued functions on the real line. In particular, we will be interested in convergence results in suitably defined uniform and Lp metrics. An example of basic questions that arise immediately are what is the optimal choice of interpolation points to choose and what is the best rate of convergence one can expect. We will survey this interesting topic concentrating on recent work of the authors, Lubinsky, Vertesi, Szabados Kwon and Jung.
