Analog to Digital Conversion

Abstract:

Signals are typically analog but processing them is more efficient in the digital domain. Thus Analog to Digital (A/D) conversion is a fundamental problem in Signal Processing. This talk will give a mathematical view of A/D conversion and try to explain why Engineers choose what appears to be an inferior choice for doing this conversion. We will bring out several interesting unsolved mathematical questions related to this topic. These questions sit in the domain of analysis that intersects number theory and dynamical systems.
