Mathematical and computational studies of vortices in superconductivity

Qiang Du · Iowa State University · 1/25/01

Superconductivity is often identified as one of the grand challenge
problems in modern science. One of the important subject of research
in superconductivity is the study of vortex state. In this talk, we
will give an introduction to the physical background and the
mathematical models. Various algorithms used in the computer
simulation will described. Recent analytical and numerical studies of
the vortex state in the superconductors will be presented.
