Mathematical Analysis of Orientation of Symmetric Particles in Newtonian and Viscoelastic Liquids

In this talk we address the problem of orientation of symmetric
particles of constant density sedimenting in Newtonian and
viscoelastic liquids. In particular we show that commonly accepted
theories in the engineering community do not find any corresponding
validation in a rigorous mathematical analysis of the problem.
