In this talk I shall discuss the existence, multiplicity and asymptotic "blow-up" of solutions to certain two dimensional, elliptic boundary value problems. Special emphasis will be put on the model problem $\Delta v=0$ in $\Omega$, $\frac{\partial v}{\partial n} = \lambda \sinh(v)$ on $\partial \Omega$. This latter problem is a simplified version of problems that appear in connection with corrosion/oxidation modeling.
